Becky & Gordon | Yale University | Omni Hotel, New Haven, CT
The architecture, culture and beauty of Yale University and the surrounding areas of New Haven just beckons to be the backdrop for amazing wedding photos. Becky and Gordon, both graduates of the University, used every part of the campus and the walk to the Omni Hotel to their advantage. The above photo is one of our favorites. We shot this one inside the Sterling Memorial Library where light is like that of a cathedral. Placing them just inside the window light allowed us beautiful highlights and a background like no other.
Prep shots are some of our favorites to capture. The bride and groom are mixed bags of emotions - from nervousness, to excitement - but always all smiles.
You wouldn’t know it by looking at these images from the first glance, but the courtyard outside of the Sterling Memorial Library was all scaffolding, netting and extension cords. We were limited to one wall of the courtyard and even that had some extension cords we had to remove in post production. It was a challenge, but as professional photographers, we are used to dealing with the situation we’re given and making that lemonade!
Shhhhh, be very very quiet. We took time to capture some romance in the library amongst the students studying for their exams. We were in and out like stealth!
From the Hora to the speeches, to the ring shot and the singing, the reception at the Omni Hotel proved to be one glorious time for all.
